In the same sense, if you don't want to 'go it alone' just visit the Collaboration thread. The nice thing is, there are a few thousand people registered on these here forums so if you get stuck on something, most likely the answer is already in here somewhere. I know this might sound very unhelpful, but trust me, just getting in there and playing around is very helpful indeed! Think up an idea and just start with the smallest or simplest aspect thereof and work your way up. then it is time to let your imagination take flight.

AC3D SHIP MODELS HOW TO

If you have content, you can add an interactive character to your scene and you understand how to create/move/rotate new objects. The simplest way to do that is to drop a CharacterController prefab into your scene (comes with the standard assets package so just import that into a project and drag the prefab into the scene) You say you can model so your content is already sorted out so your next step is to go interactive. Also get a grasp on how Unity's components system works so you can add behaviors to your objects. Just learn the very basics for now: how to create/ instantiate prefabs and how to move / rotate them. Get onto the docs and learn how Unity works. It seriously is the easiest way to learn. Any suggestions as to how to get involved would be appreciated. So I don't have a real folio of existing games-oriented stuff because I haven't done any yet, although I'll get round to uploading some images of my work in due course.ĭoing some stuff for games would be a nice change from print. I made some Flash games in the past but I lost a couple in an HD crash, and the one I have doesn't seem to function properly in new players - I think I'm missing a file, however I understand how building a game works - but not specifically Unity. So, is AC3D useful in the Unity community? I have been able to import a model into Unity as an 'obj', so I know it works, but I'm not sure if people in the community are using it, and whether I can offer my services as an AC3D/3D artist? Naturally I can make textures to go with my models so I can provide tiles and stuff but there are a few other things, like UV maps, animation options and file conventions, common to game developers, that I am trying to understand. I have also made some aircraft textures for X-Plane. I have since expanded the amount of buildings and included ships and other objects. This required fairly accurate modelling of actual buildings, applying textures to them, exporting them in X-Plane "obj" format and then placing them in the X-Plane world.

As part of the X-Plane community I created some free scenery of Melbourne, because none existed, in AC3D. I am a bit of an aeroplane fan and enjoy X-Plane flight sim. I have mainly worked with print but in recent years there has been an increased demand for digital, which is actually easier because, in general, it's lower-res and less demanding on the hardware.
